Armin is a male given name and surname of Indo-European origin. In the Balkans, Armin is popular among Bosniaks in the former Yugoslav nations. The name is a modification of Amin, following a pattern similar to the modification of Anel to Arnel. This region also has a female equivalent: Armina. The name became especially popular in the region after the 2007 Croatian-Bosnian drama film Armin.
