Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh Jugjeet Singh Bhavnani (pronounced [rəɳˈʋiːr sɪŋ]; born 6 July 1985) is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Hindi films. He has received several accolades, including four Filmfare Awards. Singh is among the highest-paid Indian actors and has been featured in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2012. After graduating from Indiana University Bloomington, he made his acting debut with a leading role in Yash Raj Films' romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), winning the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He gained praise for playing a melancholic thief in the drama Lootera (2013) and established himself as a leading actor through his multiple collaborations with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period dramas Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013) and Bajirao Mastani (2015). Singh received widespread critical acclaim for his portrayal of Sultan Alauddin Khalji in Bhansali's Padmaavat (2018), which earned him the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor. He had further commercial success in the action film Simmba (2018) and the musical drama Gully Boy (2019), for which he earned a Filmfare Award for Best Actor. He also received praise for playing Kapil Dev in the well received but commercially unsuccessful sports film 83 (2021), for which he earned another Filmfare Award for Best Actor. This was followed by two commercially unsucccessful films. However, he had renewed commercial success in the romantic comedy Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) and the spy thriller Dhurandhar (2025), with the latter emerging as his highest-grossing release. In addition to films, he is a prominent endorser for several brands and products. He also ventured into singing, with songs and rap in his film Gully Boy (2019). He is married to his frequent co-star Deepika Padukone, with whom he has a daughter. Off-screen, he is known for his flamboyant fashion sense.
